Andrew is a two-year-old boy from Uganda. He is the lastborn in a family of three children, with an older brother and sister who are both attending school. His mother is a small-scale farmer and his father earns a living through boda-boda transport. Andrew can speak a few words in his local language and is a playful and cheerful child who is just beginning to take his first steps. Since shortly after birth, Andrew has had an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. His mother was initially advised to wait and give him time to grow before further intervention. Over time, however, the swelling began to appear more frequently and worsened, affecting his ability to walk and causing him to fear movement due to pain. Recently, he has become increasingly irritable, crying frequently and vomiting after eating. Fortunately, on May 5th, Andrew will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. His family is seeking support to raise $230 to fund the surgery, which will allow him to live more comfortably and pain-free. Andrew’s mother expressed, “My greatest wish is to see my son get better. If I were financially able, I would do everything possible to ensure that he undergoes the surgery. Unfortunately, at the moment, I am unable to afford the cost, yet surgery is the only option for his complete recovery. I therefore humbly seek your support.”

Derly is a 10-year-old girl who lives with her mother in a village in Antioquia, Colombia. She lives with congenital glaucoma, a condition that has required ongoing medical care since she was very young. In addition, about one year ago, she was evaluated by a pediatric dentist, who found multiple deep dental cavities. Since then, Derly has remained under observation. However, the progression of the disease has been unfavorable, leading to significant complications in her oral health. Currently, Derly experiences intense and persistent pain, inflammation, as well as difficulty eating and falling asleep, which impacts her quality of life. The medical team has advised for her to undergo dental treatment under general anesthesia to ensure a comprehensive, safe, and effective procedure. Derly will be receiving support from our medical partner, Clinica Noel. She is scheduled to undergo treatment on May 20th, and Clinica Noel is requesting $1,109 to cover the cost of this procedure. Derly’s mother expressed: "I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support; it is a great blessing. Thanks to this noble gesture, Derly will be able to receive the treatment she so desperately needs and, with it, regain her smile and the quality of life that every child deserves. May God reward you."

Ketmada is a 17-year-old student from Haiti. She lives with her parents and three older siblings in a mountainous village in central Haiti. Her father is a school custodian, and her mother is a homemaker. She likes cosmetics and beauty care and would like to be a professional cosmetician one day. Ketmada has been diagnosed with a cardiac condition called rheumatic mitral regurgitation. One of the valves in her heart does not open and close properly due to an infection she suffered earlier in childhood, and as a result, her heart cannot adequately circulate blood through her body. Ketmada needs to fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On March 24th, Ketmada will undergo surgery, during which surgeons will attempt to repair the valve so that it functions more normally. If her valve cannot be repaired, the surgeons will instead remove it and implant an artificial replacement. While another organization, Mitral Foundation, is funding Ketmada's surgery, her family will also need help to fund the costs of her surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. That amount will also support securing travel documents for her family and paying travel costs for the social workers who will accompany Ketmada's family overseas. Ketmada says joyfully, "I am very excited to have this surgery so that I can stop worrying so much about my heart!"
