Borey is 21 years old and a factory worker living in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. He lives with his wife, who works in a garment factory, and their two-year-old son. In his free time, he looks after his son and plays volleyball with friends in the village. Five months ago, Borey was in a motor vehicle accident that caused paralysis of his right arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his right side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to lift his right arm and experiences stiffness in his fingers, which limits his ability to use his hand and perform daily activities. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. Borey traveled to our medical partner's care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, to receive treatment. This is the only center in the whole country where this treatment is available. On April 2nd, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he is expected to regain strength, improve flexibility in his fingers, and be able to use his right arm normally. He can contribute $100, but needs help raising $637 more to fund his procedure and care. Borey said, “I hope that after the surgery, I will be able to lift my right arm again, and the stiffness in my fingers will improve so that I can regain strength and use my hand normally.”

Samuel is a very cheerful boy from Colombia who loves animals, watching television, and playing with his friends. He dreams of growing up and working alongside his father, following in his footsteps as a welder. He lives in Frontino, Antioquia, with his family. For some time now, he has been suffering from severe tooth decay and is receiving dental treatment. About a year ago, he was evaluated for the first time by a pediatric dentist, who diagnosed multiple deep cavities. Since then, he has been under observation, but the disease has progressed, causing intense and persistent pain, inflammation, episodes of suppuration (presence of pus), and difficulty eating and sleeping. After a complex process, it was concluded that the treatment should be performed under general anesthesia, considering the number of teeth affected and his young. This step represents much more than pain relief: it is an opportunity to give him back his smile, his peace of mind, and the chance to fully enjoy his childhood. With proper treatment, Samuel will have relieved pain, prevent new infections, and regain his quality of life, improving his ability to eat, sleep, and develop normally. Samuel's mother shares with emotion, "Your work is truly admirable. Many children need this process, and thanks to your generous support, many of them will be able to receive the treatment they need. Samuel will be able to regain his smile and the quality of life that every child deserves. Seeing someone who does not know him personally get involved with such love is the purest reflection of human kindness. May God continue to bless you and guide your every step in this mission."

San is a 50-year-old woman from Burma. She lives alone in a village in Tak Province, Thailand. Originally from Burma, she moved to Thailand in 2015 in search of better job opportunities. San works as an agricultural day laborer, earning around 2,400 THB per month, which is often not enough to cover her daily expenses. When she needs for basic health care, she visits Mae Tao Clinic (MTC). Lately, she has borrowed 3,000 THB with interest from friends to cover her recent medical costs. For over a year now, San has been experiencing abdomen distension. When she touched her lower right abdomen, she could feel a mass. San went to our medical partner for a review and was diagnosed with uterine myoma. She has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, San's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Fortunately, San is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on December 18th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, San will recover from her worrying symptoms, allowing her a healthier life. She said, “I feel very sad and worried about my surgery because I cannot afford to pay for it. Now that I have learned that the organisation (HFA-BCMF) and the donors will cover for my surgery, I feel very happy and relieved. I am thankful to all donors and to HFA-BCMF for saving my life. Without your support, I would not have been able to afford the treatment, and I might have lost my life. When I fully recover, I will return to my work."
