Pork is a 92-year-old retired rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and has one son, two daughters, and ten grandchildren. He lives with his elderly wife and his youngest daughter, who is a rice farmer and financially supports them. At home, he likes listening to Buddhist prayers on the radio. Three years ago, Pork developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Pork describes it as if there is a film covering his eye. This condition makes it difficult to see any small details clearly, and he is unable to help around the house, which causes him sadness as he considers it part of his responsibility to help as the head of his family. Overall, Pork has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go out on his own. When Pork learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 1st, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund this procedure. Pork said: "I hope, after surgery, both eyes can see better. I hope to recognize relatives, help my wife in the house, and eat and drink well."

Doreen is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She was a nursing assistant but, unfortunately, was laid off. She is currently practicing farming and growing food for home consumption. Her husband is a businessman selling furniture, but, due to many dependents, he struggles to provide for his family. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She is currently expecting her fourth child. Her doctors recommended that she deliver via a caesarean section because of two previous scars. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Doreen undergo a C-Section on May 11th. Doreen needs your help funding this $252 procedure. Doreen says, “I will be very happy when my baby is born alive. I hope to resume farming so that I can take care of my family.”

His wife sells coffee in front of their home with his youngest daughter, who also is a clothes garment worker. At home, Horm enjoys listening to the monks pray and the news on the radio. Three years ago, Horm developed a cataract in his right eye. This can make it difficult to see any small details clearly. He is unable to work out in the field and feels bad because it is his responsibility as the head of his family. When Horm learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 16th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Horm shared: "I hope after surgery I can see better and feel happy. I hope to return to growing rice well and seeing the faces of my children and grandchildren."
