Daw Su is a 50-year-old teacher form Burma. For three years, Daw Su has struggled with abdominal pain and bleeding caused by a uterine mass.
Daw Su’s condition is extremely treatable with surgery. But Daw Su’s husband recently contracted malaria, and was forced to give up his job, leaving the family in a financially
strained position. Despite support from friends, family, and students, Daw Su needs additional help to afford treatment.
For $540, we can help Daw Su receive medical care so she can return to her job as a teacher and (in her own words) “assist other people who are also in need of help.” Let’s do this!

Daw Su received surgery to remove a uterine mass.
Daw Su said that before the surgery, she was depressed because of her condition and because she had to take time off of school. She was worried about neglecting her students as well as the loss of income. Now, after the operation, Daw Su says she’s doing much better and has no problems! She no longer has to endure the pain, bleeding, or worry that accompanied her condition. Daw Su is extremely happy to be back to her normal, energetic self! She is looking forward to returning to her fifth grade class because she loves her students very much. She hopes to be able to support her daughter, who is finishing university, until she can stand on her own. Thank you for making such a big impact in Daw Su’s life!
Daw Su said that she will never forget the help that Burma Border Projects and the donors have given her. Ever since she knew that she would be getting help to pay for her surgery, she has been praying for the donors. She said that if she ever has the chance, she would like to return her thanks in any way possible.
