Win is an 11-year-old student from Burma who lives with his family in a refugee camp in Thailand. His father has a shop in the camp while his mother is a homemaker. Win and his three younger brothers attend school in the camp. During his free time, he enjoys playing football and sometimes watching cartoons on YouTube. One day ago, Win began to experience troubling symptoms, including abdominal pain and vomiting. He was diagnosed with appendicitis and now needs surgery to prevent his condition from worsening. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Win receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo an appendectomy, a surgery to remove the appendix when it becomes infected, on October 10th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Win and his family need your support. “I have pain in my abdomen and I cannot touch it. It is very painful. I want this pain to stop,” said Win.

Soe is a 55-year-old man from Burma. He fled to Thailand last year where he lives with his daughter, her husband, and their four kids. In Burma, he was a farmer on his own farm but because of the conflict, he stopped working outside on the field. His son-in-law works at his father’s shop while his daughter is a homemaker and his grandchildren are students. In October 2023, Soe started experiencing a small swelling on his upper left eyelid. Currently, Soe cannot open his eye as usual and cannot see far. As he is also experiencing pain in his eye whenever it is windy, he is spending most of his time inside. Unfortunately, his eyes also hurts when looking at his phone, so he is mostly sitting without doing anything. He was diagnosed with sebaceous carcinoma of right eye. Doctors recommend enucleation, the removal of the eye, to treat this condition. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund this surgery. The treatment is scheduled to take place on June 17th at our medical partner's care center, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. Once completed, Soe will hopefully live more comfortably. Soe expressed his feelings, “I want to thank the donors. I really hope that they have a good job and that they and their families are healthy.”

Chimwemwe is a single mother of three from Malawi. Chimwemwe's children stay with their maternal grandmother in Lilongwe town. She sells second-hand clothes to support her family. Early this month, Chimwemwe was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia after experiencing varied symptoms for about 13 years. She would experience abdominal pains and would get treated without much change until she gave up seeking further treatment. Her problem caused so much pain that it affected her ability to run her business and lowered her income. Chimwemwe visited our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center (PIH) for proper management. There, surgeons recommended that she undergo hernia repair surgery. Chimwemwe believes the surgery will help her improve and concentrate on her business. She also looks forward to living without symptoms and supporting her children as a single mother. On August 12th, Chimwemwe will undergo hernia repair surgery and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $575 to fund the procedure. Chimwemwe happily said, “Kindly help me to get better, my children are still young, and they need me.”
