Youssouf is a dynamic young artist who livens evenings beneath the stars with the music of his balafon (a wooden percussion instrument similar to a xylophone). Youssouf lives in the West African nation of Mali. One day, on his way home from a cattle market, Youssouf was in a car accident which broke his thigh and jaw bone, and caused numerous wounds on his back and face. Due to financial constraints, Youssouf’s parents used traditional treatments for his injuries which further complicated his condition with infection. Youssouf now needs more skillful medical care to ensure his bones heal properly and to fight his current infections. For $1,475, we can fund Youssouf’s treatment and put him on the road to recovery. The family is struggling to repay hospital debts incurred for Victor’s previous medical care and can’t afford the final surgery needed to remove the mass on his head. Eremon is 14-year-old boy from the northernmost region of Kenya. Eremon has a deformity in one leg, called a "knock knee," which makes his leg angle inward and causes pain and limited mobility. A $1,000 corrective leg surgery will repair Eremon's knee and restore him to physical shape that will allow him to walk, run, and increase his balance. Saikonyi is a 13-year-old boy from Tanzania who lost the use of his left hand when he developed dry gangrene on his ring finger. A simple amputation can save Saikonyi's hand and restore his dexterity. The procedure will cost $300. With six other children to support, Saikonyi's parents invest most of their hard-earned farming money into basic needs for the family. Medical care is a luxury they cannot afford. Saikonyi loves to read and enjoys school. He says he hopes "to be a teacher when I grow up." This surgery will give Saikonyi the ability to achieve that dream.

Emmanuel is a hardworking man from Kenya. He used to own his own hotel next to a busy bus stop in Nairobi. He had a good relationship with his girlfriend, and he enjoyed a normal, healthy life. All that has been put on pause by an injury. A trolley hit Emmanuel while he was at work and deeply cut his leg. His leg now has an ulcer on it which, if it's not treated, will get worse and could turn into a bone infection. Emmanuel loves the hotel business. He says he longs to re-open his hotel, get it running, and marry his girlfriend. For $900, we can cover the cost of Emmanuel's wound debridement and skin graft surgery, alleviating his pain and enabling him to live a normal and productive life.

Lalmati’s dream is to find a good match for her daughter, but a life threatening condition is sapping her strength and resources. She’s had pain in her chest and a high grade fever for over a week. After being shuffled to different hospitals, she was diagnosed with Cholecystitis, a painful condition that causes swelling in the gallbladder, which reduces normal blood flow and causes cell death. Lalmati’s husband died 12 years ago, leaving behind three very scrappy and strong woman. Lalmati currently lives with her youngest daughter who cares for her. At just three months old, Tesfa suffers with a dramatically swollen head, constant fatigue, and frequent seizures. If not corrected soon, Tesfa's condition will continue to worsen, potentially causing permanent brain damage. For Tesfa to develop normally, her doctors need to drain the excess fluid from her brain.
