Saikonyi is a 13-year-old boy from Tanzania who lost the use of his left hand when he developed dry gangrene on his ring finger.
A simple amputation can save Saikonyi’s hand and restore his dexterity. The procedure will cost $300. With six other children to support, Saikonyi’s parents invest most of their hard-earned farming money into basic needs for the family. Medical care is a luxury they cannot afford.
Saikonyi loves to read and enjoys school. He says he hopes “to be a teacher when I grow up.” This surgery will give Saikonyi the ability to achieve that dream.
