Hana is a one-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He enjoys playing football and watching animated movies. His mother is a homemaker, while his father works as a daily labourer in construction. Hana was born with bladder exstrophy, a congenital anomaly that affects the bladder and surrounding structures, causing the bladder to form outside the body instead of inside the abdomen. The condition can lead to various challenges, including difficulties with urinary control, potential risks of infection, and a risk of infertility. Fortunately, Hana is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on October 12th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Hana’s mother shared, “My greatest wish is to see my child healthy, happy, and growing strong. I am deeply grateful to the organisation for providing my child with this life-changing support and the opportunity to receive the treatment he needed. Phally is 42 years old and a father of two from Cambodia. His wife is a garment factory worker, and their two children are currently in Grades 10 and 5. In his free time, he enjoys making toy cars for his children. He previously worked as a truck driver, but his health condition has forced him to stop working. Phally first began experiencing pain in both hips about six years ago and was diagnosed with avascular necrosis (AVN) in 2022. This condition occurs when the blood supply to the bone is reduced, causing the bone tissue to become damaged. Over the past two years, his pain has become much worse. The condition has progressed particularly in his left hip, where the bone has collapsed. His left leg is now shorter than his right, making walking and moving around increasingly difficult. As the pain has worsened, Phally has become dependent on a walking frame for support and struggles with everyday activities. Phally was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). On November 3rd, he will undergo a left total hip replacement (THR) to relieve his pain and improve his mobility. Phally and his family can contribute $100 and need support to cover the remaining $1,400. Phally said, “I hope the surgery will reduce my hip pain and help me walk normally again. I miss being able to work and take care of my daily activities without depending on others. My biggest wish is to regain my independence and return to driving a truck when I am able.”

Jacob is a 52-year-old man from Kenya. Before the accident prevented him from working, Jacob earned a living through casual work and was the primary provider for his family. His wife is a homemaker, and together they have six children. On July 20th, Jacob was in an accident on his way to work. He was on a matatu that was involved in a head-on collision with a motorcycle. The accident left him with severe injuries, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Upon examination, doctors discovered that both of Jacob's legs had sustained fractures. Because of this, he has been unable to work, placing tremendous financial strain on his family. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On August 4th, Jacob will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation, that will enable him to recover and return to his family and continue providing for them. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to fund this procedure. Jacob said, "I have always worked hard to provide for my family. My greatest prayer is to walk again, return to work, and continue caring for my wife and children."
