Damtew is a cheerful six-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He is the only child in his family. His father is a tailor, and his mother is a farmer.
Damtew was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility. Due to the ongoing war in their area, Damtew has not been able to seek medical treatment.
Fortunately, Damtew was referred to our medical partner’s care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre. The family traveled for two days, but was grateful Damtew was able to see a doctor.
Damtew is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on April 4th, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,231 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
Damtew’s father said, “I hope he will heal and grow up to be happy and healthy after the surgery. I will be so happy to see that day.”
