Har Si is a 38-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her three daughters and son-in-law in a refugee camp in Thailand. Her eldest daughter and son-in-law run a small home-based grocery shop, while her two younger daughters attend school in the camp. Har Si is a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies on her phone and chatting with her neighbors. In October 2025, Har Si felt a lump on the left side of her neck while bathing. She was diagnosed with a left branchial cleft cyst. She experiences fatigue and discomfort from the cyst. Although the doctors have reassured her that the lump is not cancerous, she still worries that it may not disappear. Har Si traveled to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, to receive care, and on July 21st, surgeons will remove the cyst. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund Har Si's procedure and provide her relief from the impact of the cyst. Har Si shared, “I feel so happy and relieved because of your support. Before this, I was worried that I would never be able to afford the surgery. I was afraid the lump might become cancerous and that I would be separated from my daughters. Now, because of your assistance, I have the opportunity to receive the surgery I need."

Yuon is a 33-year-old ceiling installer from Cambodia. He lives in Banteay Meanchey Province with his parents, who are rice farmers. He is divorced and has two children, who live with their mother. In his free time, he helps his parents in the rice fields and enjoys playing volleyball with his friends. In April 2025, Yuon was involved in an accident that caused an open fracture of his right shinbone. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, the fracture got infected and failed to heal properly. The injury causes persistent pain and prevents him from walking. As a result, he has been unable to work or carry out his normal daily activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 6th, Yuon will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. A circular frame and bone transport procedure will gradually reconstruct his right tibia by encouraging new bone growth. Although recovery will take about a year, the treatment is expected to restore the bone, improve his ability to walk, and help him return to work and daily life. Yuon said, “I understand my treatment will take a while, but I hope it will give me the chance to walk again and live independently. I am very grateful for this opportunity.”

Salorn is 44 years old and a mother of two from Cambodia. Her husband is a construction worker. Their oldest child is married, and the youngest is in Grade 5. In her free time, she enjoys watching the news on her phone and doing household chores. In 2018, Salorn developed right calcaneum osteomyelitis, a condition where bacteria penetrate the bone tissue and bone marrow, often involving the surrounding soft tissues. She experiences constant pain, discharge, and difficulty walking, requiring a crutch to maintain balance. Her condition has limited her mobility and ability to work. She visited a hospital in Vietnam, where doctors recommended surgery, but she could not afford the cost. Salorn was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), where she underwent several surgeries in 2020. For a time, she was able to walk and move more comfortably again. However, a year ago, the pain returned, and her condition worsened. Again, Salorn traveled to CSC for four hours seeking treatment. On March 18th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to relieve pain, remove infected tissue, and restore her ability to walk and return to work. Now, Salorn needs help to fund this $412 procedure. Salorn said, “After the surgery, I truly hope that I can finally walk without pain again, regain my strength, and return to work so I can better support my family and give my youngest child a brighter future.”
