Alosious is a trader from Uganda who came to our facility with complaints of right inguinal swelling that has persisted for the past two years. He complains of pain especially when he coughs or lifts heavy loads. This limits his ability to work, especially being a hawker.
Previous hospital visits have not been fruitful since he always had surgical recommendations but due to limited funds, he could not be treated. His daughter brought him to our facility and upon review, he was diagnosed with right inguinal hernia. He requires herniorrhaphy to improve his health. If not treated, he will be at risk of hernia strangulation.
Alosious is a father of six children, five of whom are still in school while one is employed. His wife is a peasant farmer and with limited income, the family is not able to raise funds needed. Most of his income goes towards his children's school fees leaving meager amounts for medical care.
Fortunately, on December 31st, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Alosious's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Alosious says, “ I hope for the best out of my surgery, to have a better health and continue with my business.”
