Eh Hay is an eight-year-old young boy from Burma. He lives with his parents, and six older siblings in Tak Province, Thailand. Originally from Burma, Eh Hay and his family moved to Thailand to look for better job and education opportunities. His father is a day laborer, while his mother is a homemaker. His oldest brother is a teacher at a migrant school, and his other six siblings are students.
In April 2022, Eh Hay started experiencing blurry vision. He was later diagnosed with a left eye injury. Doctors recommend enucleation, the removal of the eye, to treat this condition.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund this surgery. The treatment is scheduled to take place on December 20th at our medical partner’s care center, Mae Sot General Hospital. Once completed, Eh Hay will hopefully live more comfortably. Eh cannot see with his left eye. He is shy around people, and he does not go out. He quit school and stopped going to church as there are a lot of people there.
Eh Hay said, “I want my eye to look as normal as other people’s eyes but now I feel like I am very different from others.” Eh Hay’s mother added, “I feel sad when I know that he feels this way but we cannot do anything. We do not have money for his treatment as well, so I was worried that he has to stay like that for his whole life. Thank you so much for providing this support to my son and I hope that, after the surgery, he will go back to school.”
