Davin is 26 years old and a mother of one from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Speu province with her three-year-old daughter and her elderly mother. Her husband currently works in Korea and sends money home to support the family. Before her injury, she worked in a garment factory to help provide for her household. In her free time, she takes care of household chores and plants vegetables around her home. Two years ago, Davin was involved in a road traffic accident that caused a closed fracture of her right proximal tibia. After the accident, she immediately underwent an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery. Her leg was immobilized in a cast for two weeks, and the stitches were removed during the second week. Over time, her foot gradually became stiff. The metal plates were removed, but she developed an equinus foot deformity, causing her to walk on her tiptoes. This condition makes it difficult for her to walk long distances and causes pain during daily activities. Seeking further help, she traveled two hours to our medical partner's care center, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for evaluation and treatment. At CSC, she will receive specialized care to correct the position of her foot. With proper treatment and recovery, the surgery is expected to help straighten her foot, reduce pain, and allow her to walk more comfortably and return to her daily activities. She can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $482 more to fund her procedure and care. Davin said, “After the surgery, I hope this treatment will help me straighten my foot so I can walk normally again and return to my daily life without pain.”

Dah is a 52-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, two daughters, and a son in the village in Karen State, Burma. Dah and her husband work as agricultural day laborers. Currently, Dah experiences back pain while sitting for long periods. She was diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Dah's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Dah is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on June 25th. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Dah's procedure and care. Dah said, “We do not have work every day. If there is work available but I have back and stomach pain, I cannot work, so we do not have income for the day that I did not get to work. I wish I could get the surgery and be free from this pain, but I do not have the money. Thank you so much for helping me. Without your help, I had decided that I would just stay with the stone inside me for the rest of my life.”

Kenneth is 57 years old and a farmer from Malawi. He is married and has five children, three of whom are adults with their own families, and the youngest two are in school. He is also a grandfather to five grandchildren. About 16 years ago, Kenneth began to experience troubling symptoms, including a swelling on his neck that grew over time. He has been experiencing difficulty swallowing, neck heaviness, and breathlessness, which have significantly affected his daily activities, resulting in reduced income. He has been to different hospitals but has not felt any improvement. In January this year, one of the beneficiaries noticed him struggling to breathe and encouraged him to seek care at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. He was diagnosed with a goiter, which is an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. The thyroid is the gland located in front of your neck and produces thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for functions such as metabolism, growth, and other bodily functions. He needs surgery to prevent his symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Kenneth receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on March 4th. Surgeons will remove all or part of his thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $1,015, and he and his family need help raising money. Kenneth shared, "I already have 100% hope that my healing has drawn nearer. I did not expect to be supported despite having nothing to offer. I will patiently wait for my surgery turn."
