Obadia, a 15-month-old baby and the youngest of four children, lives in Tanzania. Obadia’s parents noticed that he was having issues breathing, especially at night when they heard him snore. They also noticed that he had issues when he was trying to breastfeed.
Obadia’s parents sought help at our medical partner’s care center, where staffers diagnosed Obadia with adenoid enlargement. Adenoids are small patches of tissue at the back of the throat, which normally help keep the body healthy by trapping bacteria and viruses. But when they are infected, adenoids swell, causing breathing difficulties, snoring, and other symptoms.
Obadia is scheduled to undergo an adenoidectomy to alleviate his symptoms on January 12. This procedure will cost $488. Your donation will help pay for the surgery, theater time, four nights hospital stay, and medication.
“I hope that my child is about to heal fully, so that he may sleep soundly at night and breath well,” says Obadia father.
