Jackyto is a six-year-old boy from a small town in southern Haiti. He currently resides with his parents and four siblings. He is in the first grade and likes going to school and drawing designs.
This young student was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)—a heart condition involving several related defects, the most major being a hole between two chambers of the heart and a muscular blockage in one of the heart’s valves. As a result, not enough oxygen is delivered to Jackyto’s body, leaving him sickly and weak. Without surgery to correct the malformation, TOF can be fatal.
Our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,343 to transport Jackyto to his much-needed surgery. Jackyto’s parents both work as farmers and do not have enough means to cover the cost independently. His procedure is scheduled for June 8.
“I am so thankful the day has finally arrived for Jackyto to travel for his surgery!” Jackyto’s mother shares.
