Ganeblowza is 21 months old. She lives in a small city to the west of Port-au-Prince with her mother, father, and grandparents. Her father is a day laborer, and her mother currently stays at home to care for her.
Ganeblowza was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart condition involving several related defects including a hole between two chambers of the heart and a muscular blockage in one of the heart's valves. As a result, not enough oxygen is delivered to her body, leaving her sickly and weak. Without surgery, the condition would be fatal.
Ganeblowza is scheduled for air transport on May 12. She will travel to the Cayman Islands to undergo cardiac surgery. Her family cannot afford the cost of transporting her to the facility by themselves. Therefore, our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,343 in funding.
"I have been very afraid since my daughter was born that she would die without surgery. I am very thankful for this chance," says Ganeblowza's mother.
