This young man is called Powerful. He is 17, has two brothers and one sister, and lives in Haiti. Powerful is an intelligent boy, and was always good at school even when sick. He dreams of becoming a doctor in the future.
Powerful has had two heart surgeries for valve replacement. Now he has developed endocarditis, an inflammation of the inner layer of the heart, the endocardium. Our medical partner, Project Medishare, reports, “the patient came to the hospital with fast heart beating, shortness of breathe, fever and severe headaches. Powerful’s health condition is very bad, he requires very specified and quick treatment to save his life.”
Powerful is from a poor family and his parents are unemployed, they depend on friends to help them. They cannot afford the treatment Powerful needs. $1200 will cover his hospital admission, labs, x-rays and a two week treatment of life-saving antibiotics. Your support could make the difference in saving Powerful’s life. Let’s make it happen.

Powerful received life-saving treatment for a heart condition.
Powerful’s father, Gerard, had a lot to say when his son was being discharged from the hospital. It’s more than we would usually include in an update email, but we feel like you should hear what you made possible. So here it is in full:
“I feel that this is the right moment to talk about the health situation of my son, Powerful. Previously when he came to the hospital, there was not much hope for him because he was very bad, his body was swollen, his health respiratory system was very bad and he could not breathe, he had spent 48 days on oxygen. We felt that he was far away to continue living.”
“But thanks be to God, now he is able to breathe well, his respiratory system is working very good, he was not able to eat but now he has appetite and he was very weak, so weak that we were only able to move him on wheelchair so he could go to the bathroom but now he is able to walk and take shower alone, now there is much more hope for him to live, we are very satisfied.”
“I don’t think there is enough time to thank you for your support and your help. Powerful is sad because he missed the school year because he was sick, but now we are looking forward for him to recover totally and be able to go back to school soon because he loves school very much.”
