This little guy is Ayubu, a three-week-old baby boy from Tanzania. The youngest of three children, Ayubu lives with her siblings and hardworking parents. Ayubu’s family owns a few livestock, with which they earn an income to support their family.
Ayubu has thoracolumbar myelomeningocele with hydrocephalus. This has caused a lesion on his back, which can burst at anytime and leak cerebral spinal fluid. He is in danger of losing his vision due to increased intracranial pressure and if not treated, his condition will likely be fatal.
For $1,025, Ayubu will receive a myelomeningocele closure and ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion. This treatment will get him out of danger of losing his sight and will allow him to continue developing normally. “We have truly struggled with this baby and we frantically need help. He is our only son and I hope to one day herd cattle with him and also take him to school,” says Ayubu’s father. Let’s help Ayubu and his family!
