Eyob is a cheerful and playful three-year-old boy from Ethiopia. His joyful personality brightens everyone around him. He loves playing with his toy cars, pretending that chairs are cars and that he is the driver, and watching animated movies. Eyob lives with his mother, aunts, and maternal uncle in a supportive family environment. His mother is a single parent who works part-time as a cleaner to support the family. Eyob was born with hypospadias, a condition that may cause urinary dysfunction and infections. When Eyob was two years old, he became seriously ill with a high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. During his evaluation at a private clinic, doctors explained to his mother that surgical treatment was necessary. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of future complications. Fortunately, with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, Eyob is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 14th. His family needs help raising $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Eyob's mother shared, "Thank you so much for giving my son this opportunity. Your kindness has brought hope to our family. May God bless you abundantly and reward you for changing our lives."

Velonika, a 52-year-old woman from Malawi, is married and has four children. She and her husband engage in farming to support their family. Five years ago, Velonika began to experience small, painless swelling on her neck. Over time, the swelling grew larger without affecting her daily life. In 2022, the swelling became noticeable, prompting her to cover her neck until the end of the year. In 2023, Veronica developed symptoms like frequent coughs and neck heaviness. Despite visiting a traditional healer, her condition worsened. Velonika was referred to our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, where surgeons noted signs of hyperthyroidism and conducted necessary tests. Her thyroid function tests were normal, and the ultrasound scanning revealed a heterogeneous mass on the right lobe. She was diagnosed with a goiter, the swelling of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland, located in front of the neck, produces thyroid hormones that regulate metabolism, growth, and other bodily functions. Surgery is necessary to address the systems and prevent conditions from worsening. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is providing Velonika with the necessary treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 7th, where surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $1,015, and she and her family need help raising money. Velonika shared, "Pains have forced me to come all the way from the village after noting your support. Kindly help me in time since I don't have anyone in town."

Mengleang is a four-year-old kindergarten student from Cambodia. She lives in Kandal Province with her parents. Her father is a farmer, and her mother works in a garment factory. She is the youngest of three children - her older brother works in a beverage factory, and her sister is in Grade 11. She enjoys learning Khmer reading and writing and loves playing dolls with her friends. She dreams of becoming a nurse in the future. For the past four months, Mengleang has been experiencing sore throat, loud snoring, difficulty breathing at night, and trouble swallowing food and drinking water. Mengleang was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Mengleang, which is scheduled to take place on May 21st. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Mengleang of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Her mother said: “I am very worried to see my daughter struggling to breathe and sleep at night. I hope this treatment will help her breathe easily, sleep peacefully, and grow up healthy without pain or discomfort.”
