Akatwijuka is a 6-year-old from Uganda. He and one of his brothers are in first grade and his other brother is in third grade. His mother is an elementary school teacher in a private school and his father works for a company as the driver.
One year ago, Akatwijuka developed an umbilical hernia. This hernia causes her weakness and pain. Fortunately, on July 21st, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $230 to fund Akatwijuka’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow her to live more comfortably and confidently.
Akatwijuka’s mother shared, “I wish that my son may be relieved of this hernia so that he may have peace of mind and enjoy himself with others while playing and so that I too can resume teaching once schools are opened after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Akatwijuka received a successful herniorrhaphy treatment due to an umbilical hernia. He is no longer experiencing pain like before and can play with others. He can also eat well and once he fully recovers he will be able to continue with school.
Akatwijuka mother shared, “I thank Watsi for having rescued my son by giving him financial support. I myself was unable to raise the funds for his surgery. May you continue with the same spirit. I will resume teaching and he will return to school once the COVID-19 crisis is over.”
