Lowasa is a 12-year-old boy who is the fifth of his mother’s ten children. Lowasa is currently in second grade. Lowasa’s parents are peasant farmers and have a few animals. His father works hard to allow his children to go to school.

Lowawa said, “I will be so happy to go home and for people to see that I once had bent legs and now they are straight.”

Lowasa successfully had surgery to help him walk comfortably.
Lowasa has had successful surgery! He has now begun a few months of live-in rehab at The Plaster House, and is on track for a full recovery. When he heads home he will be able to go to school and play without pain, and be able to fully participate in all of his family and village activities and responsibilities as he grows older.
“I am thankful for the operation,” Lowasa shares. “I know that it will take time for me to heal now at The Plaster House. When I am better I really want to go back to school and play with friends.”
