Zelluiya is a 46-year-old mother of two who lives in Kenya, and has a passion for caring for children with autism. Since 2012, Zelluiya has been experiencing heavy bleeding as a result of uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop near the uterus.
According to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, if left untreated, Zelluiya could suffer from anemia due to heavy bleeding, and continued growth of the fibroids, which might affect other organs.
Zelluiya and her husband run a small shop where they work to support their family, but their income is not enough to meet the cost of a total abdominal hysterectomy. With $790, Zelluiya can undergo this life-changing procedure.
After surgery, Zelluiya will continue to help children with autism. “My child who had autism died at age 15. From taking care of him I developed a special passion to help such kids. I hope that Watsi will help me and my surgery be successful,” she shares.
