Khin Wint is an 18-month-old child from Burma. She lives with her four siblings, mother, and extended family. Her father lives and works in Bangkok to support them.
Khin Wint was born with a congenital malformation called an encephalocele, a neural tube defect characterized by sac-like protrusions of the brain through openings in the skull. In February 2016, the Back Pack Health Worker Team came to her village and referred her to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF).
On April 3, Khin Wint will undergo surgery at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, BCMF’s care center, to correct her condition. BCMF is asking for $1,500 to cover the cost of Khin Wint’s surgery.
“I can’t wait to see my daughter receive treatment and go to school when she grows up,” says Khin Wint’s mother.
