Rachael is 49 years old and a mother of five from Malawi. She runs a small grocery shop in town to support her family, while her husband does casual work as a bricklayer.
For 27 years, Rachael has been experiencing abdominal pain and bleeding. The condition has worsened over the years, leading to the need for a blood transfusion. For the past three months, Rachael has been very weak and dizzy due to continuous blood loss. She has required five pints of blood, highlighting the urgent need for intervention. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and questionable endometrial hyperplasia, a condition where the endometrial cells proliferate excessively. This requires urgent surgical attention to prevent the risk of uterine cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Rachael’s surgery. On September 13th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Once recovered, Rachael will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Rachael shared, “Through your support, I believe my healing will come. I want to regain my health and continue being a productive mother.”
