Boromey is nine years old and a fourth-grade student from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and older sister, who is in Grade 5. Her father works as a car repairman, while her mother assists the village chief. She enjoys mathematics at school and likes playing with dolls and toys in her free time. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher. On March 18th, 2026, Boromey was involved in a road traffic accident when a motorcycle crashed into her, causing a fracture of her right femur. She underwent surgery, where rods were inserted to stabilize and treat her right femur fracture. She still cannot walk and is afraid to put weight on her right leg. Her leg is not aligned, and the rods are exposed with draining sinuses on both the inner and outer sides of her thigh, making movement difficult and preventing her from returning to her normal activities and school. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 2nd, Boromey will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $378. Removing the rods will help address the hardware-related complications and support her continued recovery. As the deformity is expected to remodel over time, the treatment may help improve her leg function and allow her to gradually regain mobility. Boromey's mother said, “I hope the surgery will help my daughter’s leg heal and allow her to walk again. I want her to return to school, play with her friends, and enjoy her childhood.”

Savoeun is a 64-year-old woman from Cambodia. She previously worked as a rice farmer and is now retired. She is married and has three sons, three daughters, and fifteen grandchildren. She lives with her husband, who is also a retired farmer, and they are supported financially by their children. In her free time, she enjoys listening to the radio and listening to monks' prayers. For the past two years, Savoeun has been living with age-related cataracts. She developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. When Savoeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 8th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Savoeun said, "I hope that after cataract surgery, my vision will improve so that I can recognize my relatives more easily and go outside with greater confidence and independence."

Chu is a 44-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her sister and niece in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand. She left her home in Yangon Region, Burma, to escape violence after a military coup in 2021. Chu and her sister work at a church in Mae Sot, where they cook and clean for daily events and handle behind-the-scenes tasks for weddings, funerals, and parties. They rely on donations from the church and have no formal salary. The income she receives is enough to cover basic expenses for the family, including food and healthcare. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake desserts. After surgery, she wants to continue to make snacks and potentially start a business selling them on her own. Since 2023, Chu has been experiencing troubling symptoms, including right lower back pain and right lower abdomen pain. The pain worsens when Chu stands or sits for long periods of time. Her symptoms are exacerbated at work, but she continues her duties, taking oral painkillers to manage the pain. Doctors plan to perform a ureteroscopy, a procedure used to diagnose and treat kidney stones or ureteral blockages by passing a small, fiberoptic scope through the urethra and bladder into the ureter. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 for this procedure. The treatment is scheduled to take place on April 10th. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully alleviate her symptoms. Chu said, "I had nowhere else to look for money. After your organisation agreed to help me, I felt relieved. I have fled from my home and left my family to come here. However, I feel warm and supported by my church with basic needs. Thank you for helping me.”
