Athalya is a little girl whose smile brightens the spirits of everyone around her. Despite her young age, she shows a special sensitivity when it comes to caring for others. She deeply enjoys music and dance. Athalya dreams of becoming a dancer one day, moving freely and joyfully to the rhythm of her favorite songs. Athalya lives in the town of Rionegro, Antioquia, with her parents, who lovingly support her at every stage of her development. However, about ten months ago, Athalya began experiencing oral discomfort that disrupted her daily routine. After seeing a dentist, she was diagnosed with dentin caries, a condition that began to affect her oral health and also her overall well-being. The pain and discomfort caused by this condition made everyday activities such as eating, concentrating, and fully enjoying her games increasingly difficult. This caused concern among Athalya's family, who sought specialized care to prevent the situation from worsening further. Following a comprehensive evaluation by the dental team, it was determined that, given the extent of the damage and Athalya's age, the safest and most effective treatment should be performed under general anesthesia. This decision made it possible to plan a comprehensive procedure focused on properly restoring Athalya's oral health without causing her any distress. Fortunately, Athalya will get the procedure she needs under anesthesia on April 29th. Our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is requesting $1,109 to help fund her care. Qanitah is a three-year-old girl from Tanzania. She is the second-born in a family of three children and lives with her parents and extended relatives. Qanitah sustained burn injuries to both hands at a very young age. The burns mildly affected her right wrist joint and severely involved the fingers of both hands, leading to fusion and restricted movement. As she grew, the condition has increasingly limited her ability to use her hands independently for daily activities. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Qanitah receive treatment. On February 6th, surgeons at their care center, Kafika House, will perform contracture release surgery and a skin graft to restore hand function and allow Qanitah to live a more independent and meaningful life. Without surgical release, the contractures will continue to limit hand function and affect her future independence, including future school participation and self-care. Now, she needs help to fund this $832 procedure. Qanitah's mother says, “She wants to hold things and feed herself like other children, but her fingers cannot open properly, and that breaks my heart.”

Panha is a nine-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents, who sell groceries in a small booth, and his younger brother, who is two years old. He is in the 5th grade, and enjoys studying mathematics, eating fried pork, playing football with his friends in the village, and doing his homework. He dreams of becoming a police officer when he grows up. Recently, while playing with his friends, Panha fell and fractured his left elbow. He is experiencing significant pain, has difficulty moving his arm, and is unable to lift his hand, which makes daily activities and schoolwork challenging. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On February 5th, Panha will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. This treatment will help relieve his pain, restore movement of his left arm, and allow him to use his hand easily again so he can return to school and focus on his studies. Panha's mother said, “After the surgery, I hope my son will be able to use his hand easily again and be free from pain, so he can grow healthy and focus more on his studies.”
