Bottrey is a five-year-old first-grader from Cambodia. She is the oldest child in her family, with a younger brother who is 2 years old. Her mother is a housewife, and her father works as a bread baker in a bakery shop. At school, Bottrey enjoys recess and studying Khmer. She dreams of becoming a doctor when she grows up and enjoys playing with her friends after school.
When she was two years old, Bottrey started to experience sneezing, a runny nose, nasal congestion, coughing, and headaches. Frequent illness and interrupted sleep make it hard for her to focus at school. Bottrey was diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Bottrey scheduled for February 13th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Bottrey of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably.
Bottrey’s mother shared, “I hope that Bottrey will grow up healthy and happy, and she will be able to attend school without feeling unwell.”
