Meet Juana, a two-year-old girl from Guatemala. Food is scarce for Juana’s family, which includes eight brothers and sisters. As a result her diet is lacking both in quantity and quality.
Juana has had numerous intestinal infections. These infections, along with malnourishment, have slowed her growth, caused developmental delays and have wiped out her day-to-day energy. “She is at the maximum age where intensive nourishment therapy can still be effective,” our hospital partner writes. Which is why it is important that Juana gets care soon.
The treatment to alleviate Juana’s malnourishment and monitor her growth costs $525. Your donation will give her back her energy and appetite, set her growth on track and give her the ability to play and learn alongside her peers. Let’s help Juana out!

Juana received intensive nutritional therapy to combat malnourishment and ensure age-appropriate development.
“For the first time in quite a while, [Juana] is starting to gain in height as a result of education and treatment she’s been receiving over the last two months,” her doctors at Watsi’s partner Wuqu’ Kawoq (WK) write. “Her parents report that her energy is much improved, that she is “less sick” and that they notice a big difference. This treatment has been timely, and should help guarantee continued growth in years to come!”
Juana’s parents are grateful for the help they have received. “They have many children and sometimes have a hard time making ends meet,” WK writes. “The help they’ve received from Watsi and WK have allowed them to take better care of their daughter, and they are excited to watch her continue to thrive.”
