Fenet underwent a life-saving treatment for her birth condition.

We just received an update that Fenet’s care has proceeded well and successfully. Her first surgery was done in June to create a colostomy and now in December she had the second stage of her treatment to close the colostomy and complete her care. Her family is relieved that she is now making stool like anyone else and is expected to lead a healthy and quality life.

Fenet’s mum shared, “I am so happy about the surgery. I have faced a lot in these past years as a result of her condition. Because of this, I want my child to become a doctor and help so many others who face the same problems we faced. Thank you so much.”

Fenet is a 1-year-old child from Ethiopia. She is a beautiful baby girl with two older siblings and she loves to play with them and their parents. Her dad is a daily labourer with an income not large enough to meet the family’s needs and medical costs.

Fenet was born with an anorectal malformation, which is a congenital abnormality that leads to a complete or partial intestinal blockage. Children with this condition have an imperforate anus, or an absence of opening where it should be. Due to this condition, she developed bowel obstruction and underwent an emergency colostomy. Post-surgery, Fenet has had multiple issues with her colostomy care and experienced associated complications. As a result, she cannot pass stool in a normal way. Fenet’s condition has taken its toll on her mom and dad, and the whole process has been very emotional and difficult for them to go through. Her family appeals for help for Fenet to be treated.

Fenet is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct her condition on June 10th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Fenet’s procedure and care. After her recovery, Fenet will no longer experience bowel dysfunction or be at risk of developing health complications in the future.

Her mom shared, “I hope my child will heal and God is able.”

Zin

Zin is a 15-year-old boy who lives with his parents and two younger sisters in Tak Province in Thailand. He and his sisters are all students. His father is an agriculture day laborer and his mother is a homemaker. In his free time, Zin likes to play football with his friends. He also helps his father with his work when he has time to earn pocket money. Early morning on December 28th, Zin and his friend rode out on his friend's motorcycle to the field to help Zin's father. While driving on the dirt road, Zin's friend suddenly lost control and their motorcycle slide off the road. Zin, who was sitting behind his friend, hit his leg against a metal post beside the road andthey both fell off the motorcycle. Currently, Zin is experiencing a lot of pain in his left thigh and hip. He cannot move his leg, walk, nor go to the bathroom by himself. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Zin will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The emergency procedure is scheduled for December 28th and will cost $1,500. This treatment will help Zin heal, regain mobility in his left leg, and live pain free. He will be able to take care of himself again without requiring help from others. Zin's mother said, "I was very worried when I learned that I would need to deposit a large amount of money so that my son could receive surgery. We do not even have enough money to buy enough food to last us until the end of the month. I really needed your help and I was extremely happy when I saw your staff and was told that donors could help pay for my son's treatment! Thank you in advance to all the donors and the organization for helping my son!"
