Sambath is a six-year-old child from Cambodia. He lives in a coastal commune in Sihanouk province. His parents work in a clothing factory near town. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school, even though government schools are free. A significant issue for rural families is transportation and the costs associated with school uniforms, books, and stationery. Sambath is lucky because he can attend school at a local non-governmental organization that strives to help children finish 12th grade. Sambath is currently in kindergarten and enjoys drawing class. At home, he likes his mother’s meatballs, coloring, and playing with his friends.
Sambath was born with a small mass on his right eyebrow. He has never had care because his parents could not afford it. Recently, it has been growing larger, and his parents are concerned it could injure his eye or affect his vision. Teachers at his school suggested he should be seen by surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre.
Sambath traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On November 26th, surgeons at Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Sambath’s family needs help to raise $273 to fund this procedure.
His aunt shared: “We hope that the mass can be removed and does not continue growing, so we don’t have to worry about it.”
