Bernard is a 63-year-old farmer and a father to five children. His two daughters are married and working as farmers. His eldest son is a teacher, middle son is a builder, and the youngest son is a motorcycle taxi driver. Both he and his wife practice small-scale farming. They live in a three-roomed muddy semi-permanent house. He enjoys listening to the radio in his free time. For two years, Bernard has had a right inguinal hernia. This hernia causes him abdominal pain around the groin and back, and on-and-off swelling which appears mostly when he lifts heavy things, or when he coughs or laughs. He has been unable to raise funds for his needed treatment. Fortunately, on February 28th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Bernard's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Bernard says “I really pray that given your support to undergo surgery and I hope to get well after surgery.”

47-year-old Sophea is a farmer, living with his mother in Kandal province in Cambodia. When not working on the farm or caring for his elderly mother, he enjoys doing housework and spending time with friends. Since he was about ten years old, Sophea has lived with a mole on the right side of his nose near his eye. Recently, the mole spread to his lower eyelid. Sophea visited a private clinic and had the mole removed. However, the mole returned and began to bleed. Sophea is worried that it might be cancerous. Sophea sought help from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. On February 7th, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform an excision of the lesion, and send a sample for histology. Sophea needs help to fund this $673 procedure. Sophea said: "I hope the doctors can remove the tumor and I can go to work and take care of my mother."

Amirors is a nine-year-old student in grade one. She lives with her parents and four siblings in Cambodia, where her parents catch and sell fish at a community market. Ever since she was a baby, Amirors has had a mass on her right ring finger. It has continued to grow over time and it now causes her pain when she tries to grab objects or hold a pencil in school. Her mother is concerned by the growth of the mass. With help from our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, Amirors will now receive treatment. On May 4th, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will remove the mass. Amirors and her family need your help to raise $273 to fund this procedure. Amirors' mother said: "I am worried about this bump on Amirors' finger, and I hope that after surgery, it will not come back."
