Sineth is an 18-year-old plantation worker from Cambodia. He lives with his family in Kampong Cham province and works on a coconut plantation. Sineth and his family extract and boil coconut meat to produce coconut oil for sale. In the evenings, he enjoys playing soccer with other workers. In July 2023, he was involved in a traffic collision on a motorbike. He fell on his left shoulder and hit his head hard, losing consciousness. When he awoke, he was unable to move his left arm and had a fracture of his right wrist. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He has no movement of his arm, along with pain, numbness, and lack of muscle control. Sineth traveled to Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre to receive treatment. This is the only center in the whole country where this treatment is available. On April 26th, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he hopes to have use of his left arm again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $709 to fund this procedure. Sineth said, "I hope the doctors can fix my arm so I can use it to work and help support my parents."

Piseth lives with his mother and two siblings in Kampong Cham province. He shared that his father is not in his life. Both his younger brother and sister work in construction. Before his tragic accident, he was also employed in construction and enjoyed playing football with his friends. In April 2023, he was involved in a high-speed motorbike collision, fracturing his right clavicle, right forearm, right femur, and right kneecap. He sought treatment at a local hospital, but after six months, he was unable to use his arm and hand due to paralysis and was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre at Kien Khleang. He is unable to work and grapples with the challenges of this devastating injury, rendering him unable to use his arm or hand. The impact of this physical limitation has taken a toll on his emotional well-being, resulting in a significant state of depression. On February 2nd, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he hopes to be able to use his arm and hand again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $709 to fund his procedure. Piseth shared: "I hope I can work with my hands again so I can support myself and not only rely on my family."

Ramadhan is the 3rd born in a family of 4 from a small village in Kenya. Ramadhan's mother is the family's sole caregiver. Ramadhan was born with bilateral clubfeet, a condition where both of his feet were turned inward. This makes it difficult for him to walk, run around, or play like other children his age. Ramadhan walks with discomfort as a result of his bilateral clubfeet. He always admires his siblings running and playing football, and he wants to be able to play with them. Ramadhan is currently in the hospital undergoing serial casting, to soften the tissues in order to obtain better results after surgery. He is scheduled to undergo a surgery on both feet called bilateral posterior medial release on February 28th. The treatment will have a positive impact on Ramadhan's life because he will be able to walk, run, and play football like his siblings and friends. Our partner, African Mission Healthcare needs $1,224 to fund his surgery. Ramadhan's mother told us, “I am looking forward to see my son walking normally, running, playing football and going to school like other children."
