Samalani is a 73-year-old farmer from Malawi. He has three children who are all married in their respective homes, and he lives with his grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Samalani depends on small-scale farming to support his family, where he grows maize and groundnuts for consumption.
For two months, Samalani has had a right inguinal hernia. He has been visiting a nearby health center, but the medicines they gave did not help. This condition has affected Samalani’s life, as the pain hinders him from carrying out his daily activities, including farm work. He was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Nkhoma Hospital, where he was given a diagnosis and recommended for surgery. Treatment will free him from the pain, and he will be able to do his farm work so that he can continue supporting his family.
Fortunately, on March 19th, Samalani will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. He needs help to raise $500 to fund his surgery. Once completed, will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably.
Samalani says, “I am thankful for the help that has been found through this program.”
