Korn is a loving grandfather from Cambodia. He and his wife are retired rice farmers and live in Kampong Thom province with their youngest son. Their youngest son was the first in the family to receive a decent education, and is able to help support his parents and extended family by working in customer relations at a local bank. They have four other children living nearby, and twenty grandchildren. In his free time, Korn likes praying and volunteering at the pagoda in his village. Around two years ago, Korn developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own. When Korn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 1, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $253 procedure. He shared, "I hope after surgery I can see better as I am eating, start to read again, and take good care of my grandchildren."

Dina is a 20-year-old man from Kampong Thom province in Cambodia. He works at a bank and enjoys playing football with his friends in his free time. He has two younger brothers, who are still in school, and his parents are hardworking rice farmers. A month ago, Dina was riding his motorbike when he was hit by a tractor and fractured his left tibia and damaged his left foot. Due to financial constraints, he could not afford treatment at a hospital and visited a healer for a bamboo splint. However, he has not received treatment for his foot injuries, and the wound has become infected. DIna is experiencing severe pain and swelling and cannot walk or work. When Dina learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 6th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove damaged and infected tissue from the wound so his foot can finally heal. CSC is requesting $324 to fund this procedure. Dina said, "After surgery, I hope my foot will heal, and the fracture will also heal so I can return to work."

Alizu is a 15 year-old girl who lives in Kampong Thom province with her parents and two sisters. Her parents work as rice farmers, her older sister is also a cleaner, and her younger sister is still in school. In her free time, she enjoys reading and checking her social media. Alizu has nasal polyps in each nostril that cause bad odor, discharge, and pain. For the last four years, she has suffered from frequent headaches and difficulty sleeping due to the obstruction in her nose. She has been using medications to manage these symptoms but her condition has not improved. Fortunately, surgeons at Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) are able to perform a nasal surgery on September 18th to alleviate these symptoms permanently. Her family needs help to raise $388 to fund the surgery. Alizu said, “I really hope after the surgery my nose will be better, my headaches will go away so I can feel normal again."
