Four-year-old Koralie was born with a cardiac condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which involves several related defects including a hole between two chambers of the heart, and a muscular blockage of one of the valves leading to her lungs.
As a result, oxygen cannot adequately pass through her body, and she is sickly and weak. Koralie also has a developmental disability.
Koralie lives in a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, Haiti with her mother, father, and three brothers. She likes to draw and to play with her siblings.
$1,500 in Watsi funding, with an additional $10,000 subsidy from Have a Heart Cayman Islands, will fund this life-saving surgery that Koralie needs.
“Our family is all praying that the surgery will go well and that Koralie will not have heart problems any longer,” her mother shared.

Koralie underwent successful heart surgery.
During surgery, the hole in Koralie’s heart was closed with a patch, and the muscular blockage in her valve was removed. She spent many days in intensive care after her surgery, but she made a full recovery. She is now doing very well. She should not require any further surgeries in the future.
“I would like to thank everyone in the hospital for working so hard to take care of Koralie,” says her mother, “and I would also like to thank everyone who helped her to have surgery.”
