Ashok is a lively and courageous 15-year-old who aspires to be a teacher. He is currently in the ninth grade, studying diligently to have a bright future. Ashok’s parents work at a poultry farm to earn money for food and other necessities.
Five years ago, Ashok fractured his left hand. The injury is now on its way to turning into a permanent deformity. As a result, Ashok is unable to perform some of the household activities he used to be able to do.
For $1,225, we can fund Ashok’s surgery so he can be able to use his left hand again and pursue his dream of becoming a teacher!

Ashok is unfortunately not going to receive the treatment you funded, so we've just sent you a gift card in the amount of your donation.
Unexpectedly, after being funded by Watsi donors, Ashok was seen by surgeons who advised against surgery. “His present range of motion is very near to normal despite the deformity,” write his doctors. “If he has the operation, his limb will become shorter and his range of motion may also decrease.”
Because Ashok will no longer need the surgery you funded, it’s important to us that you decide where your money goes next.
We’ve just emailed you a Watsi gift card for the same amount as your donation to Ashok. We’d love for you to use this gift card to support another Watsi patient of your choice. But if you do not want to reallocate your donation to another patient, we’ll gladly refund your contribution.
Thanks again for supporting Watsi patients, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.
