"I am looking forward to being in no pain so that I can do household chores and also to take care of my husband and daughters," San San tells us. 36-year-old San San is a mother of three from Burma. Last year she went to a doctor with cervical pain, and was told she needed treatment for an inflamed cervix. But because she could not afford the treatment, she continued to live in pain. A subsequent ultrasound revealed she has a cervical mass, which is not only causing pain, but also mental distress. San San and her daughters rely on her husband's income, which is not enough to cover the expenses of the family. They often borrow money to make ends meet. Our medical partner, Burma Border Projects (BBP) is able to treat San San's mass for $625, which we hope to fully fund for her. "Once San San has had the inflamed mass of retained products in her cervix removed she will be able to take full-time care of her daughter, who has a congenital heart condition," says BBP. "She will be able to live with good health and dignity and contribute positively towards her community." Let's help make it happen!

Ashok is a lively and courageous 15-year-old who aspires to be a teacher. He is currently in the ninth grade, studying diligently to have a bright future. Ashok’s parents work at a poultry farm to earn money for food and other necessities. Five years ago, Ashok fractured his left hand. The injury is now on its way to turning into a permanent deformity. As a result, Ashok is unable to perform some of the household activities he used to be able to do. For $1,225, we can fund Ashok’s surgery so he can be able to use his left hand again and pursue his dream of becoming a teacher!

Danna is a one-year-old girl from a small Guatemalan village. She's consistently had a difficult time eating and getting enough nutrition. Recently, the situation has worsened due to a bout of infections and problems with unemployment in her family. Danna is acutely malnourished, with virtually no growth in height or weight, and shows signs of delayed development. Danna's parents are attentive but they are having a difficult time making enough money to support themselves and their other children. For $525, Danna will be able to start nutritional therapy. First, the medical team at our Guatemalan medical partner must do lab work to rule out anything else that might be contributing to the problem (such as thyroid disorders or anemia). Once that's done, Danna will enroll in an "intensive oversight" nutritional program, which will provide extra moral and logistical support to her parents, teaching them how to best provide Danna with nutritional foods. Most importantly, Danna will receive food and nutritional supplements to get her back in good health!
