Einar is a two-year-old boy from Bolivia. He is an only child from the southwest part of Bolivia who loves to smile and play and is very friendly. His mom takes care of him at home, while his dad works as a car keeper.
Einar used get frequent nosebleeds and faint often, and his parents took him to the hospital where his heart problem was discovered. Einar has a cardiac condition called Patent Ductus Arteriosus. A hole exists between two major blood vessels near his heart. Blood leaks through this hole, leaving him weak and short of breath.
On February 11th, he will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner’s care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, surgeons will close the hole so that blood can no longer leak through it.
Einar’s family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. The $1,500 requested by our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, covers cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications.
Einar’s mother says: “I am so grateful that my boy has an opportunity to receive surgery. We have traveled a long distance, but now that we are here in La Paz, we have hope!”
