29-year-old Yin lives with her husband in Tak Province, Thailand. Yin is a domestic worker, and her husband works as a gardener. They have a daughter and a son who live in Burma with their grandparents, while Yin and her husband send money to support them back home. Yin and her husband earn enough to cover their daily expenses, but they are unable to save any money. During her free time, Yin likes to talk on the phone with her children.
Since November 2023, Yin has been experiencing abdominal pain and has noticed a mass in her abdomen. The pain intensifies when she lifts heavy objects, and she also suffers from back pain. These symptoms have made it difficult for her to perform her usual daily activities. Yin has been diagnosed with a right ovarian tumor and has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, which includes the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, her symptoms are likely to worsen, increasing her risk of further health complications in the future.
Fortunately, our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), is helping Yin receive treatment. On September 25th, she will undergo a hysterectomy to alleviate her pain, allowing her to perform her daily activities with much ease. Now, Yin needs help to fund the $1,500 procedure.
Yin says, “Thank you to BCMF and Watsi donors for helping me access treatment. Without your assistance, I would have faced the difficult decision of leaving my current job.”
