Dany is a 33-year-old mother of two from rural Cambodia. She works at home caring for her disabled father and her two kids, ages 7 and 1. Her husband works at a nearby construction job. Dany enjoys spending time with her kids and cooking. Ten years ago, Dany was in a motorbike accident and fractured her left femur. After the accident, she went to an emergency clinic and doctors fixated hardware to heal the fracture. Now the fracture has healed, but the metalwork causes discomfort and infection. It is difficult for her to walk, and she is in chronic pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On February 19th, Dany will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $304. This procedure will help her walk easily again. She shared, "I hope I can walk easily, and be able to take care of my children now that my son started to walk."

Rossette is a 35-year-old housewife from Uganda. Her husband works in a retail shop and supports his wife as she has not been able to find a job. During her free time, Rossette enjoys visiting her friends. Rossette is currently expecting her first child. She received antenatal care at Rushoroza Hospital, where her doctors recommended that she deliver via a Cesarean section because of breech presentation at term. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Rossette undergo a C-Section on March 1st. This procedure will cost $214 and Rossette needs your support. Rosette says, “I hope I will have a successful surgery with a positive outcome. After complete recovery, I will continue to search for a job. May God bless you.”

Sok is an 80 year-old retired rice farmer from Kompong Thom province. Since her husband died five years ago, she has been living alone. Her six children and twelve grandchildren live in neighboring villages. The family checks in on her often, but it has become increasingly difficult for Sok to go out on her own due to deteriorating vision. She misses going to the pagoda to pray and taking walks. Her favorite things are her grandchildren and listening to Buddhist radio. About one year ago, Sok developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. When Sok learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On March 7th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure. Sok shared, "I hope after surgery I can see better, easily go out on my own, and recognize my family."
