John is a kind-hearted boy who loves school and wants to be successful in life. John’s mother passed away when he was 4 years old, and he has lived with his aunt ever since. John’s aunt works as a teacher. She earns just enough money to support herself and John, but not much more.
John dreams of finishing school and living an exciting life, but his dreams are on hold right now because of a serious injury. Four years ago, John experienced an epileptic seizure and fell into a fire. The resulting burns on his legs have turned into severe scar contractures on his foot, and he was forced to stop attending school because of his lack of mobility.
Now, John and his aunt have traveled all the way from northern Malawi to seek treatment at CURE’s hospital. Doctors at CURE say that with surgery, they believe it’s possible to restore functionality to John’s foot. We hope to raise the $1000 needed to fully cover the cost of John’s care, enable him to go back to school, and help him live a healthy, productive life.
