Lazaro is a five-year-old boy from Tanzania. He likes learning and playing with other kids. Lazaro’s parents are pastoralists.
Lazaro was diagnosed with congenital genu varus at birth. His legs are bowed outwardly at the knees. He has never visited a hospital to get treatment for the condition. This prevents him from playing, attending school, and helping out at home.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $940 to fund corrective surgery for Lazaro. The procedure is scheduled to take place on December 8. Treatment will hopefully restore Lazaro’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Lazaro’s gurdian says, “After treatment and when he grows up, Lazaro will be able to attend school and become a teacher one day.”
