Srey Yorng, who is 17 years old, is from a rural province in northwest Cambodia. Her parents are rice farmers, and she has one younger brother and three younger sisters. She recently moved to Phnom Penh city, where she is learning to sew to support herself. For the past year, Srey Yorng has been suffering from sinus pressure and frequent nasal infections. She often has a runny nose and nasal discharge, which makes it difficult for her to attend classes, and to pay attention to her studies, because she feels so unwell. She visited a local clinic, where they determined that she has a deviated septum. This occurs when the nasal septum — the thin wall that separates the right and left nasal passages — is displaced to one side. It can cause difficulty in breathing and sleeping, and frequent nosebleeds. However, Srey Yorng was unable to pay for the needed septoplasty surgery, and was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, for care. She is now scheduled for her procedure on July 19th, at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, and needs your help to fund the $333 which will cover surgery, hospitalization, and all medications. Srey Yorng said: "I hope I will get better from this disease and I will be healthy again."

Channy is a 31-year-old mother of two from Cambodia. She lives in Phnom Penh with her husband and two daughters. Both she and her husband work in a restaurant. Their daughters are four and five years old, and stay home with a grandparent while they work. At home, she enjoys playing with her children and keeping her house neat. On June 16th, Channy was involved in a collision with another motorbike. During the collision, she landed directly on the side of her left shoulder. Since then, she has been unable to move her left shoulder. She sought medical care with a Khmer traditional healer and at a military hospital, but could not afford treatment and has seen no improvement. It is difficult for her to use her hand or arm and she is in chronic pain. This has left her unable to work or care for her children. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. Surgeons at CSC have diagnosed Channy with a left greater tuberosity fracture. This is a prominent area of bone at the top of her left arm and is the attachment for the two rotator cuff muscles. On August 8th, Channy will undergo a fracture repair procedure at CSC's care center. This procedure will help the fracture heal properly and ease her pain. Channy was able to contribute $100 to her treatment, and CSC is requesting $483 to cover the remaining cost. Channa said: "I hope I can move my shoulder following the surgery so I can return to work."

Alisa is two weeks old and the firstborn in her family. She lives with her parents- who are overjoyed to welcome her into the world- in Tanzania, where her father works at Asante Rabi Express, while her mother sells harvested crops at a local shop. Alisa's mother noticed that her left leg appeared different from her right leg. Concerned about this, she sought advice from the doctor at the hospital. The doctor diagnosed Alisa with clubfoot, a very treatable condition. Alisa’s treatment involves a series of casts that will be changed every few weeks. The casts are designed to gradually shift her foot into the correct position. After the casting, she is going to have tenotomy surgery on her left foot, a minor procedure that will release the Achilles tendon. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is seeking $935 to fund Alisa's clubfoot repair surgery, which is scheduled for April 21st at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. As a result of her treatment, Alisa will be able to wear shoes and walk without feeling any discomfort. Alisa’s mother said: “The warm welcome made us feel safe and gave us hope that our daughter will be okay.”
