Kyaw Yin is a 28-year-old man from Burma. He moved to Thailand in search of job opportunities to support his family. He previously worked in a factory, earning a modest income that helped cover his living expenses and allowed him to send financial support back home. Kyaw Yin was born with a heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a persistent opening between two major blood vessels leading from the heart. Due to this condition, he experiences fatigue during exertion and is unable to lift or carry heavy objects. He has recently stopped working to focus on his treatment and will undergo surgery to close the ductus arteriosus. After surgery, he hopes to return to work and eventually open a phone repair shop. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Kyaw Yin receive heart surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on April 7th and, once completed, is expected to improve his symptoms and allow him to live more comfortably. Kyaw Yin needs help raising $1,500 to fund his procedure and care. Kyaw Yin said, “Thanks to the donors for providing me with financial support. Salorn is 44 years old and a mother of two from Cambodia. Her husband is a construction worker. Their oldest child is married, and the youngest is in Grade 5. In her free time, she enjoys watching the news on her phone and doing household chores. In 2018, Salorn developed right calcaneum osteomyelitis, a condition where bacteria penetrate the bone tissue and bone marrow, often involving the surrounding soft tissues. She experiences constant pain, discharge, and difficulty walking, requiring a crutch to maintain balance. Her condition has limited her mobility and ability to work. She visited a hospital in Vietnam, where doctors recommended surgery, but she could not afford the cost. Salorn was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), where she underwent several surgeries in 2020. For a time, she was able to walk and move more comfortably again. However, a year ago, the pain returned, and her condition worsened. Again, Salorn traveled to CSC for four hours seeking treatment. On March 18th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to relieve pain, remove infected tissue, and restore her ability to walk and return to work. Now, Salorn needs help to fund this $412 procedure. Salorn said, “After the surgery, I truly hope that I can finally walk without pain again, regain my strength, and return to work so I can better support my family and give my youngest child a brighter future.”

Martha is 47 years old and a nurse from Malawi. She is married and has three children. Because of her current health, she had to stop working. For about five months, Martha has been experiencing uncomfortable gynecological symptoms associated with abdominal pains and body weakness due to low blood levels. Since she has not been working, most of her time is now spent resting. She decided to seek medical help and underwent examinations and scans. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Martha's surgery. On March 3rd, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Once recovered, Martha will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Martha shared, "This condition has caused me to be at home instead of working; I am physically and psychologically affected. Kindly help me to resume my responsibilities and continue helping patients."
