Nilo is 48 years old and a hardworking father from the Philippines. He has two children, both of whom are in school. Four months ago, Nilo began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain in the stomach and the back. Nilo was diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, his symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Nilo is scheduled to undergo a cholecystectomy on May 2nd. A portion of the procedure's cost is being covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,031 to cover the cost of Nilo's surgery and care. Nilo shared, "I am deeply grateful for Watsi's help. I hope more people can receive and benefit from this opportunity."

Takondwa is a 12-year-old student from Malawi. He lives with his mother, a single parent, who works as a cleaner. About four years ago, Takondwa was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. Due to the condition, he has been experiencing abdominal pain, and on-and-off swelling episodes, which have affected his daily activities. A few days ago, Takondwa and his mother were referred to our medical partner's care center, Parters in Hope Medical Center (PIH), where the diagnosis was confirmed, and surgery was recommended to relieve Takondwa's symptoms. His mother, however, cannot afford the required amount for surgery treatment, and is seeking support. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Takondwa receive treatment. On September 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at PIH. Takondwa's mother is hopeful that the treatment will help her son get better and concentrate at school, so that she can also concentrate better at work. Now, Takondwa's family is requesting $575 to fund this treatment. Takondwa's mother says, "Your support will be highly appreciated. This is a very kind and unique gesture. I have never seen anything like it in my life."

Toma is a 54-year-old elderly man, who lives with his wife, son and grandchildren in rural Takeo Province in Cambodia. His wife stays at home caring for the grandchildren, while his son works as a rice farmer. The family has a simple rural lifestyle with low income and relies mainly on farming and family support. In his free time, Takeo takes care of his hens, grows vegetables around the house, and lives a quiet village life. In 2024, Takeo was shot in the right hand during an attempted robbery. This resulted in a fracture of his right arm. He went to a government hospital where doctors fixed surgical hardware to help with the healing his fracture. Since the injury and surgery, he has continued to experience pain and discomfort in his right hand. The condition makes it difficult for him to use his hand properly, affecting his ability to perform daily activities and reducing his independence. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On April 21st, Toma will undergo a surgical hardware removal procedure to help reduce his pain and improve hand function, so he can return to his daily activities. Toma and his family are able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but need help raising $353 more to fund the procedure. Toma says, “I hope my hand will heal well so I can use it without pain, and return to my normal daily life.”
