Pheayuth is a nine-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Cham Province with his parents and one younger sibling, who attends the same primary school. His father works as a Tuk-Tuk motorcycle taxi driver and his mother is a housewife. Pheayuth is currently in the 4th grade, and his favorite subject is Khmer Studies. In his free time, he enjoys riding his bicycle with friends in the village.
When Pheayuth was 1 year old, he suffered a burn injury from hot water, which caused severe burns on his left foot and subsequent scar contractures. The tightened scar tissue around Pheayuth’s foot causes discomfort when wearing shoes.
When Pheayuth’s family learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On February 6th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help release the scar tissue in his foot, making it more comfortable for him to wear shoes. His family can contribute $100 but needs help to raise $395 more to fund Pheayuth’s care.
Pheayuth’s father shared, “I hope that after surgery, Pheayuth can comfortably walk to school and not worry about his foot anymore.”
