Elisha is a 17-year-old from Tanzania who has completed his secondary school education. His parents are both pastoralists and own a few cattle.
A few years ago, Elisha’s legs started to bend. His parents tried traditional medicines to relieve his pain and straighten his legs, but they did not help. Elisha’s legs continued to bend, making it hard for him to attend school regularly.
A priest advised Elisha’s parents take him for treatment after finishing his primary school education. At that time, he underwent surgery, but after he was discharged and returned home, his legs bent again. His condition causes pain, makes walking difficult, and sometimes prevents him from doing his day-to-day chores.
On September 15, Elisha will undergo corrective surgery for his legs. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, requests $838 for his treatment. Elisha’s family can afford to contribute $13 towards his medical care.
Elisha says, “I am grateful for the help that I will receive, I can’t wait to start walking well again.”
