Everest is a two-year-old boy from Tanzania. He loves playing and being around his mother. Everest’s mother is a small businesswoman who sells fruits at the market. Everest’s grandparents own small businesses as well.
Everest was diagnosed with acquired bilateral genu varus. Both his legs are bowed outwards at the knees. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, he experiences pain when walking or standing.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $940 to fund corrective surgery for Everest. The procedure is scheduled to take place on December 7. Treatment will hopefully restore Everest’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Everest’s mother says, “I see my son struggling and constantly in pain. Please help him get better.”
