Louis is a 14-month-old infant from Haiti. He is much loved by his parents and older brother and is a very happy child.
Louis has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, increasing intracranial pressure. As a result of his condition, the circumference of Louis’ head has been increasing steadily. Without treatment, Louis will experience severe physical and developmental delays.
Our medical partner, Project Medishare, is requesting $897 to cover the cost of surgery for Louis at Hospital Bernard Mevs. This is the only facility in the country where this care is currently available. The procedure, which is scheduled to take place on August 16th, will drain the excess fluid from Louis’s brain, to reduce intracranial pressure, and to greatly improve his quality of life. With proper treatment and care, Louis will hopefully develop into a strong and healthy young boy.
Louis’ parents shared, “We hope to see Louis grow up to be healthy and strong.”
