This is Visal! He’s a cheery 12-year-old from Cambodia in the 7th grade, where his favorite subject is Khmer studies. He’s the oldest child in his family, and you can find him eating fried pumpkin every chance he gets.
While it isn’t so obvious when his eyes are crinkled up in a big grin, Visal was born with congenital blepharoptosis, “a drooping eyelid on his left eye,” our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, tell us. They continue, “He is embarrassed about the way his eye looks, which makes him shy at school.”
For $290, we can help fund the surgery to lift his left eyelid. Let’s help him see clearly, so that he can be a Khmer scholar, and also see that there’s nothing to be embarrassed about!
